DESIGN It has always been of great importance for Tony to create elegance and harmony in his pieces whilst considering functionality and comfort. A deep understanding of the material, and a desire to make the finest pieces possible from the most beautiful timbers in the world, has enabled him to continue his refinement and develop a unique range of designs that directly reflect his personal aesthetic. Inspiration comes from various sources including the love and appreciation of pure forms found in the marine environment, plants, flowers and in the human form. CRAFTSMANSHIP Tony comes from a traditional cabinet making background with several years designing and building timber sailing vessels. He has taken this traditional knowledge and developed innovative joinery using these proven methods together with superior modern glues. His attention to detail and faultless finishing are paramount in his pieces. FINISHES Tony uses a variety of finishes depending on the piece and the timber used. Most of Tony’s chairs are finished with a combination of oils and varnishes as a rubbed finish, giving the surface a deep warm lustre. This finish can also be used on table tops. It is durable for tops as it will last the test of time but will need some care in use and will need to be coated every year with an additional coat of oil. Certain pieces or table tops may benefit from cut back lacquer or urethane finishes.
